RBS has made two senior appointments within transaction services in Dubai.

Both Lloyd Caughey and Ali Raza Dharamsey have joined as directors, Middle East and Africa transaction services origination (TSO).

Caughey, who joins from Westpac in Australia, where he managed trade sales, has 20 years of experience in trade finance sales and international banking management. Prior to joining Westpac, he worked in the Middle East for Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (head of trade finance) and Barclays (head of trade and supply chain finance, emerging markets). He started his career in his homeland of South Africa, working for Nedbank, Standard Bank and Citibank.

Ali Dharamsey joins from Barclays, where he was head of sales, trade and working capital for the Gulf region. In 16 years of banking, he has also worked in senior trade, working capital and cash management roles for Standard Chartered and Habib Bank, covering the Middle East, Pakistan and Singapore.

Both men will be responsible for overseeing sales and expansion in the region.

Sherie Morais, head of TSO for the region, says: “The appointment of Lloyd and Ali demonstrates RBS’s continual investment in the business and specifically trade finance which we view as a key growth area. I am delighted to welcome them to the team and confident their expertise will play a significant role in growing our trade franchise in the Middle East.”
