Alan KL Wong has been named managing director for Hong Kong and Southeast Asia at Tradewind International Factoring.

Wong was most recently managing consultant for his own company, Global Trade & Supply Chain Finance Advisory, based in Hong Kong.

He previously spent more than six years with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was latterly director, global trade and supply trade finance. Prior to this, he held senior roles with Swift in Hong Kong and CIBC in Canada.

At Tradewind, Wong’s role is to spearhead business development efforts among exporters and importers in the markets he covers. The company offers a range of trade finance products, including accounts receivables, purchase order, inventory and supply chain finance.

Wong tells GTR that the firm’s goal is to be “exporters’ trade finance provider of choice”. He will have five staff in Hong Kong helping him achieve that.

Tradewind has presence in four continents. Established in Germany in 2000, it now has more than 20 offices, including Hong Kong, China, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the UAE, Turkey, Hungary, Bulgaria, Iceland, the US and Peru. The company changed its name from DS Concept in May.
