China Construction Bank (CCB) has appointed two London trade finance executives as it expands its trade finance team in its new London office.

Simon Tyler has been appointed as the head of trade finance, commodities in London.

Tyler joins CCB from Landsbanki, where he headed the trade finance division. Before that, he spent 17 years at Rabobank International, where he held the position of managing director. Tyler’s extensive history in trade finance also includes positions held at Bankers Trust, the First National Bank of Minneapolis and Chemical Bank.

In his new role, Tyler will be focusing on Sino-European commodity trade flows, and states that the bank already has several deals in the pipeline.

Caroline Powell has been appointed as senior executive, corporate banking and is responsible for developing relationships with UK and European corporates who have trade links with China.

Powell joins CCB from Bank of Scotland where she was director, corporate banking. She brings with her a wealth of experience with over 20 years with international banks in the City.

Both Powell and Tyler report to Jian Liu, deputy CEO in London.
