Mayer Brown adds trade finance partner in New York

Law firm Mayer Brown has added structured finance specialist Michelle Herman to its global trade finance practice in New York.

Herman has experience advising borrowers and lenders on structures including trade receivables, commercial loans and instalment sales contracts, Mayer Brown said in a statement.

She has particular expertise in trade receivables securitisations and the “bankruptcy, accounting and commercial considerations that arise in sophisticated financing structures”, the firm said.

Prior to this role, Herman had been at Jones Day since mid-2010, and was previously an associate at Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP as well as Dewey Ballantine LLP.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working across the table from Michelle on many trade-related financings for more than a decade, so we know Michelle is a highly sophisticated structured finance lawyer who brings a wealth of in-demand experience that is critical to our clients active in securitisations and similar financings of trade receivables and other assets,” said Mayer Brown trade finance partner Zachary Carrier.

Mayer Brown has a large trade finance practice, with a significant presence in Singapore and London. Last month the firm added ex-Baker McKenzie trade and export finance lawyer James Clarke to its London team.
