Gonzalo Arranz has been appointed director of global trade finance at Banca Sabadell in Madrid. Arranz was previously the bank’s representative in Beijing. Before that he was deputy director of project and export finance at HSBC.

Sabadell’s international trade finance strategy has been restructured in recent months, with the bank aiming to open up its capabilities to all areas of trade finance products, and not just the traditional Cesce export credit agency business.

The bank is looking to market other trade finance products such as loan syndications, multisourcing and privately-insured transactions.

Asia will be a particular growth area. The bank already has offices in China and Singapore; it plans to open a new office in Mumbai, India.
