Kwabena Ayirebi has joined the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) as director of banking operations. He will be based in Cairo.

Ayirebi moves to the bank from HSBC, where he most recently held the position of regional head of trade and receivables finance, Middle East & North Africa. He replaced Tim Evans in that role in 2015.

He joined HSBC in 2004 from Standard Chartered.

At Afreximbank, Ayirebi takes over the position last held by Amr Kamel until his appointment as executive vice-president, business development and corporate banking, in September 2016.
