International financial services association BAFT has nominated John Ahearn of Citi as chair of its newly elected board for the 2015-2016 year.

John Ahearn is currently global head of trade at Citi’s Transaction Services (CTS) business, where he is responsible for global supply chain and trade finance, including export and agency financing, as well as asset optimisation.

“I am proud to serve as the chairman for BAFT especially during this time of significant change in the banking industry,” says Ahearn. “I look forward to continuing the work that Rita Gonzalez began. BAFT will continue to be the industry voice with regard to the issues that impact our transactional banking business.”

The new board also include JP Morgan’s Michael Quinn as vice chair and Standard Chartered’s Daniel Scanlan as secretary/treasurer.

Before joining Citi, Ahearn was with ABN Amro for eight years. He has also held senior roles at BNY Mellon, after starting his career at JP Morgan. Ahearn is also on the board of directors for the Pacific Rim Bankers Association.
