Abu Dhabi-headquartered Al Masraf has appointed Mark Emmerson as head of global transaction banking, effective from September.

Al Masraf, which specialises in providing banking and trade finance services across the Middle East and North Africa, says Emmerson is tasked with supporting the trade finance and cash management requirements of the bank’s corporate client base. He reports to deputy chief executive Charles Doghlass.

“The bank is uniquely positioned to support trade between the Gulf Cooperation Council, North Africa and the wider world,” Emmerson tells GTR

“We have a tremendous opportunity to drive further growth as we build upon the bank’s connectivity, our trade finance expertise and wide financial institution network.”

He adds that as part of the bank’s digital transformation efforts, it is enhancing its payments and cash management services for clients in the UAE and globally.

Emmerson joins Al Masraf from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), where he took up the role of head of global transaction banking in January this year.

He previously led Commerzbank’s trade finance and cash management teams in London, and spent more than 20 years at HSBC across several senior posts in Asia and Europe, including as head of global trade and receivables finance in the UK.
