Standard Bank has been celebrating a decade of doing business in Russia, throwing a party and gala dinner at Moscow’s Ritz Carlton last week.

 

Clients, business partners and friends of the bank as well as representatives from the Central Bank of Russia attended the evening celebrations. Honorary guests included Dr Bheki Langa, the ambassador of South Africa in Moscow, as well as a number of well-known Russians from the arts and sporting world.

 

Addressing the audience, Jacko Maree, chief executive of Standard Bank asserted: “Standard Bank is committed to Russia and regards it as one of the world’s most important fast developing economies.”

Standard Bank opened operations in Russia in 1997, with a representative office in Moscow. In 2002, ZAO Standard Bank was formed, and it 2003 it was granted a corporate banking license.
