ABN Amro has appointed two former RBS staffers to its energy, commodities and transportation (ECT) team.

Jeroen Westrik joins as head of ECT sector origination, leaving his post as head of energy resources in RBS’ corporate advisory team. It is to be his second spell at the Dutch bank, having left to join RBS in 2008. He previously spent 10 years with ABN Amro across the structured finance, leveraged finance and TMT teams.

Gregory Vandeler joins as sector originator and also re-joins the bank from RBS. He was most recently vice-president, corporate advisory, industrials at RBS and started his career at Deloitte in 2005, before working in ABN Amro’s London team. Both men are now based in Amsterdam.

Global head of ECT at ABN Amro Maarten Terlouw welcomes both back to the bank, saying: “Sector origination will expand our focus on driving ECT’s important cross border client agenda and the identification of event driven transactions, in conjunction with our corporate finance and capital markets and debt solutions colleagues. We believe we can add significant value for ECT clients, by further strengthening our dedicated advisory services for these sectors alongside our traditional strength in lending.”
