International law firm Reed Smith has appointed Daniel Perera as a partner in its energy and natural resources (ENR) group based in Singapore.

Perera leaves his position of counsel within Singapore dispute resolution at Norton Rose Fulbright, held for almost three years. He previously served as a solicitor and senior associate at the firm between 2003 and 2012..

Reed Smith’s global chair of the energy and natural resources group, Prajakt Samant, says of the hire: “We are delighted to be growing our ENR team here in Singapore; Daniel is highly rated by our clients in this region.”

Singapore office managing partner Barry Stimpson notes that Perera’s “front-end commercial contract drafting and negotiation and dispute resolution experience as an arbitration specialist” will greatly benefit the practice.

Reed Smith’s Singapore office opened in 2012 and formally partnered with Singapore law practice Resource Law LLC in 2016.

Perera says of his move: “I am delighted to be joining Reed Smith at a time when the firm is actively growing its presence in the Southeast Asian region. I look forward to working with an exceptional team of professionals and to continue to build on the firm’s strong track record in the ENR sector.”
