Misys Banking Systems, the banking software and solutions company, has appointed Guy Warren executive vice-president and general manager of core banking.  Warren was most recently chief executive of LogicaCMG UK, having previously led its financial services business.  Before that, he ran the banking practice of Unisys in Europe.

James Cheesewright, who has been acting CEO of the core banking business, will remain in this role until Warren’s arrival.  He will then take up a new senior PLC role.

Mike Lawrie, chief executive of Misys, comments: “We are pleased to secure someone with Guy’s sector expertise to lead core banking.  His experience in building the financial services business at LogicaCMG into what it is today and his work prior to that at Unisys, will be extremely valuable as we take the business forward.  Guy will bring fresh energy and new ideas to the company, as part of the seasoned executive team we are building.

“He will help develop and execute our game plan and deliver with the passion and commitment we need to ensure the business performs at a higher level in all areas.  I would like to thank James Cheesewright for his leadership of the core banking business during the past four months and look forward to continuing to work closely with him as we drive change across Misys.”

Warren adds: “I am joining Misys at an exciting time. The banking industry is experiencing good growth, which is forecast to continue. Aligned to this, banks are increasingly looking for a solutions-based approach. Misys has great strengths in its customer base and talented, experienced people, as well as strong products. I look forward to leading the core banking business and ensuring we make the most of our assets and the opportunities we have to capture market potential and increase the value we deliver for our customers.”
