Banking and structured finance lawyer Alexander Monk has swapped Thomas Cooper for Alden Legal.

Monk became a partner at Alden Legal in March after more than four years at Thomas Cooper where he was also a partner.

For Alden Legal, Monk brings extensive knowledge of trade and commodity finance transactions, acting for banks, financial institutions and corporates.

Monk tells GTR: “I will be working with Joanne Wheeler, Alden Legal’s director, to help build what is already the leading satellite and space regulatory and commercial advisory business by developing the finance capability we can offer clients in the sector.”

Monk, who continues to be based in London, confirms this will include trade finance-related transactions related to the sector.

Prior to Thomas Cooper, Monk served as a partner at DLA Piper for nine years where his practice covered European transactions and emerging markets with a focus on Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Alden are specialist advisers for the satellite, space, telecommunications and applications industries, headquartered in London.
