Insurance broker Marsh has appointed Edwin Charnaud to chairman of its global infrastructure practice.

Charnaud will be responsible for the strategic development of Marsh’s global infrastructure practice, which provides risk-based, analytical and transactional support to infrastructure clients worldwide.

Reporting to Jim Pierce, chairman of global industries, Charnaud will continue to be based in London. He will retain his current responsibilities as leader of Marsh’s private equity and mergers and acquisitions (PEMA) practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea).

Charnaud says: “Sourcing adequate investment ranks as one of the greatest challenges facing the global infrastructure industry today. Ensuring that risk is understood and well managed is a key priority for firms seeking to secure the funding required for infrastructure projects.”

Pierce adds: “Edwin has developed an incisive understanding of the complex risks associated with global infrastructure projects over his years at Marsh. He will play a pivotal role in ensuring Marsh continues to address the complex and evolving risk needs of the public sector, equity investors, structured finance lenders, developers and operators of infrastructure assets alike.”
