Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Naomi Murray as senior claims adjuster in its trade credit and political risk team.

Murray has 20 years of experience as a claims handler, and has worked for the likes of Coface, Amlin, RPC Loss Adjusting and Leadenhall Adjusting Limited, where she spent the last 11 years as a consultant. She has handled a wide range of claims arising from non-payment, pre-shipment credit, unfair bond calling, contract frustration, confiscation, expropriation, political violence and business interruption across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

She will report to Antony Bastow, claims manager and contracts counsel.

As a result of a growing market demand for specialist solutions, Bastow’s role has become increasingly focused on assisting the underwriting teams in London, Singapore, New York and Dubai with the development of complex products and policy wordings. He will retain overall responsibility for the trade credit and political risk claims function.

Ewa Rose, managing director, political risk and trade credit, comments on the hire: “Naomi’s appointment is an important addition, which will further strengthen our global team. Her extensive market knowledge will enable us to continue to provide the policyholders with the highest level of claims handling service. We are delighted to have someone with her outstanding reputation in the trade credit and political risk market join the team.”
