Danny Ip has joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as principal business development officer for its global trade and supply chain solutions department covering global banks in the Asia region.

Based in Hong Kong, Ip will be responsible for managing and expanding IFC’s business opportunities with global and regional banks in East Asia and the Pacific across the bank’s trade and supply chain products.

He will work in the IFC’s business development team, led by Bonnie Galat, global head of financial institutions business development for trade and supply chain solutions.

Ip was most recently at Fortis Bank where he worked as general manager of its Shanghai branch. Before that, he was head of commodity finance in Hong Kong at BNP Paribas.

“Danny’s long and successful career in commodity finance will be a great asset to IFC as we seek to help global banks stay the course through risk-sharing and credit-enhanced structures, including our critical commodities finance programme, structured commodity transactions, supplier finance, and global warehouse finance programme,” says Galat.
