HSBC is continuing the expansion of its trade and supply chain business by appointing Vinay Mendonca to the newly created role of head of global traditional trade product.

Mendonca is based in Hong Kong and is tasked with setting the strategy for the bank’s traditional trade product portfolio by developing new products and building upon the bank’s existing offering.

“Through the creation of this strategic role, we are able to continue expanding our global operations in order to deliver the best products and services to our clients,” explains Rebecca Adiatico, head of global product management at HSBC.

“With emerging markets driving global trade growth, Vinay’s in-depth knowledge of the financial landscape in India will be a valuable asset to our trade and supply chain franchise. We are delighted to welcome Vinay to our team,” she adds.

Mendonca moves to the role from HSBC India where he was serving as head of product management for the bank’s trade and supply chain division.

He has also held positions at Infosys Technologies, BNP Paribas and Reliance Industries.

Mendonca’s appointment follows a spate of expansion within HSBC’s trade and supply chain division which saw four hires in December 2010 alone.
