HSBC is continuing to bolster its Asia teams with the appointment of Shirley Leong to the role of head of global payments and cash management (GPCM) for Malaysia.

Leong joins a number of appointments made during the past 12 months to the bank’s GPCM business and will be responsible for building the business in Malaysia.

“The appointment of a highly experienced senior executive supports our continued focus and commitment to developing our business in Malaysia and other major markets across the region,” says John Laurens, head of GPCM, Asia Pacific.

Leong succeeds Jason Tan, who was assigned as the new regional head of client management in Asia.

“With extensive relationship management and corporate banking experience, I am confident that Shirley will build upon the strong foundations established by Jason and take the development of our Malaysian cash management franchise to new heights,” Laurens continues.

Before taking the new position, Leong was senior vice-president and head of international business for HSBC in Malaysia.
