Fimbank has appointed Michael Marnell as senior vice-president, head of structured commodity trade finance.

Marnell is an experienced industry figure and was most recently head of trade finance solutions, Emea, at Mizuho Corporate Bank. Before this he spent 10 years as global head of metals and mining structured commodity finance (SCF) at KBC Bank. This followed six years with Standard Bank, four of which were spent in London, with two years in the DRC, and 10 years at ANZ in London.

His new role will be based in London and he will report to Armin Eckermann, head of Fimbank’s banking group.

Eckermann, speaking of the appointment, says: “I am personally very pleased to have Mike on the team. He is an experienced structured commodity financier, well-known and respected by his peers. Moreover, he brings a wealth of experience across the energy, metals and agricultural commodity sectors, which will complement and support the strategic development plans of Fimbank in the SCF market.”
