Ivan Leung has been appointed as head of export and agency finance, Asia, global transaction banking, at Santander.

Leung joined Santander in December as head of local corporate sales in Hong Kong.

He takes over from Antonio Huang, former head of structured trade and export finance, Asia Pacific, who recently left the bank.

Leung takes on the new role in addition to his current duties at the bank.

Commenting on his appointment, Leung says to GTR: “I joined in late December to initially look after the local corporate segment within global transactions, but when Antonio left the bank in June this year for personal reasons, I took on the role in July to look after the export finance piece as well.”

Leung now reports to Hong Kong-based Alby Lee, head of global transaction banking, Santander, Asia Pacific region.

Before joining Santander, Leung spent seven years within the transaction banking sales team at Standard Chartered, more recently as segment head of commodities traders and agribusiness. Before that he held various roles in commercial banking at HSBC.

It is thought that a new head of structured trade finance will be appointed in the coming months.
