Crown Agents Bank has appointed Steven Marshall to lead its payments and cash management department.

Marshall joins the bank with 15 years of treasury and transaction banking experience, having previously held senior positions at Standard Chartered and Barclays. Most recently he worked as a treasury consultant at the International Organisation for Migration, the UN’s migration agency.

As head of payments and cash management, Marshall will work to build Crown Agents Bank’s network of partner institutions in Africa, the Caribbean and Southeast Asia, as well as strengthening relationships with the bank’s OECD-based clients looking to enter those markets. He will also focus on shaping the internal systems capabilities that underpin international payments and cash management.

Commenting on his new role, Marshall says he is “especially keen to see the bank help connect development-sector and corporate clients in OECD countries with emerging and frontier markets. This will rely on providing cutting-edge technology, geographic reach across countries, partnerships with local banks on the ground, and greater transparency on risk in those markets. Working across such a large network of diverse regions, we must remain focused on the significant amount of detail – on risk and opportunities – required in each and every country in order to best serve our clients.”

Marshall started in the role in November and reports to Richard Jones, the bank’s group CEO.
