BNY Mellon has promoted Mark Fenner as head of relationship management and sales for treasury services across the Middle East and Africa.

Dubai-based Fenner will be tasked with leading teams of relationship and sales officers in a number of cities, including Beirut, Cairo, Dubai, Istanbul and Johannesburg.

Fenner joined the bank in 2000 and boasts almost 20 years of international banking experience in the Emea region, most recently responsible for client management Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

Before working at BNY Mellon, Fenner worked at Bank of America, holding a number of roles, including on the Middle East structured finance origination desk.

Alan Verschoyle-King, head of treasury services for Emea, remarks: “The Middle East and Africa continues to be a crucial region for BNY Mellon treasury services, and Mark’s appointment is a testament to our continued strong commitment to that business. The past decade has seen two extraordinary banking trends in the Middle East. The first has been the growth of Islamic banking, brought about by a pent-up demand for shariah-compliant banking services. The second is the convergence of two core banking functions – trade finance and cash management. Combining Mark’s depth of experience in client management, country management and credit with our full suite of treasury products, we believe our clients will see a better level of service in these two areas.”
