Barclays has appointed Jim Murphy as director of financial institutions (FI) trade as it continues to grow its trade and working capital team and FI business.

Murphy will be responsible for driving Barclays’ cross-border FI trade business in Eastern Europe, Nordics, Turkey, Africa and the Americas. Based in London, he will report to Shona Tatchell, head of FI trade.

Murphy joins Barclays from HSBC, London, where he was a director in its project and export finance team, responsible for the primary origination of trade finance assets in Central and Eastern Europe (including Turkey) and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Before that, Murphy was a part of the structured trade and export finance team at Deutsche Bank, London, originating FI trade finance assets and syndicated trade loans in Turkey and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
