Trade credit insurer Atradius has appointed Chris Williamson as new SME business development manager for its UK Northern Hub.

Williamson will be responsible for policy underwriting and developing relationships with the local broker network across the North of England and Scotland.

He will work alongside Sally Nolan, Sarah Seddon and Chelcee Witkowski in the business development team, as well as senior account manager Nicola Hinchliff and account managers James Armitage and Lisa McMillan.

As part of the Northern Hub team, Williamson replaces Thomas Murphy, who has become a client advisor with Marsh & McLennan Companies.

Williamson joined Atradius full time in 2018 following a six-month placement with Atradius’ strategic account team as part of the Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme, a collaborative programme of work, training and academic study designed and delivered by leading financial organisations.

He remained with the strategic account team for six months before moving to Atradius’ Manchester office to join the business development team in February.

Prior to Atradius, Williamson held positions at General Motors Financial and Agilent Technologies, a life sciences manufacturer.

Williamson says: “Insurers and brokers have the same goal in aspiring to provide best-in-class service for customers who want to trade safely and successfully. Therefore, a strong broker-insurer relationship is essential in order for us, in partnership, to combine our intelligence, expertise and services to achieve greater successes for our customers.”
