ANZ has announced the appointment of Ivy Au Yeung as CEO of Hong Kong. She will report to the new international banking CEO, Farhan Faruqui.

Commenting on her appointment, Au Yeung tells GTR: “I’m pleased to be leading a strong team in Hong Kong with extensive experience and deep insights in financial services, infrastructure, property and trade, natural resources and agribusiness.

“Our business in Hong Kong is well positioned to help our customers take advantage of business opportunities in Greater China and across Asia Pacific, with both onshore and offshore Rmb trade and investment capabilities.

“Hong Kong is an important trade finance market for ANZ where we offer a full end-to-end suite of trade products covering traditional trade, supply chain and structured trade.”

Au Yeung, who has been acting CEO Hong Kong since June 2014, will report to Faruqui, who recently moved to the bank from his position as head for corporate and investment banking in Asia Pacific at Citi.

Au Yeung will be responsible for growing ANZ’s international banking, global banking, retail, wealth and private bank customers in Hong Kong.

Faruqui adds: “It’s pleasing to be able to appoint someone of Ivy’s calibre as our new CEO in Hong Kong on my first day at ANZ.

“Ivy has made a significant contribution to ANZ over the past three years and I’m confident her significant Asian banking experience, particularly here in Hong Kong, will be a tremendous asset to both our business and our customers.”

Before her appointment, Au Yeung led ANZ’s commercial business in Asia and the Pacific. She joined ANZ in 2011 following a 20-year international banking career with Standard Chartered.

Au Yeung replaces Susan Yuen who left ANZ in June to return to Malaysia. Her appointment is effective immediately having already received the necessary regulatory approvals.
