Bondaval brings in Parmentier as co-chief underwriting officer

UK-based trade credit insurtech Bondaval has appointed Alexia Parmentier as its co-chief underwriting officer, effective late June.

Parmentier joins from Allianz Trade, where she spent almost 14 years and co-founded the insurer’s excess-of-loss trade credit platform

Prior to joining Allianz Trade, Parmentier also held roles at AIG, Aon and Hermes Credit Services.

Based in London, Bondaval said Parmentier will work alongside Ewa Rose, group chief underwriting officer, to strengthen its “underwriting discipline, risk governance and market engagement as the business continues to scale internationally”.

Parmentier will be responsible for working with insurance capacity partners “to optimise programme structures” and with brokers to develop new initiatives.

Tom Powell, chief executive and co-founder of Bondaval, said: “We were looking for someone with the depth of experience to lead in this role, but with the entrepreneurial, builder mindset that we need to deliver new value to the market.

“We found that in Alexia, and we’re delighted to welcome her to the business.”

The hire forms part of Bondaval’s expansion plans, as Parmentier will be tasked with carrying out the risk-related groundwork for commercial expansion across regions and products.

In October last year, Bondaval hired Simon Philpin as group chief commercial underwriting officer to expand the firm’s global commercial footprint and drive growth.

Last month, the firm announced it had extended its physical presence to Germany, Austria and Switzerland with two senior hires.

Parmentier added: “Bondaval’s energetic, collaborative culture, alongside its genuinely innovative product offering and differentiated approach to the market, were key draws for me to join the business.”
