Former RK Harrison executive director of political risk and structured credit Richard Coulson has resigned to join Fidelis, GTR has learned.

Coulson will be tasked with writing a book of political risk business for the start-up carrier. He will also work on other specialty lines, including energy.

Coulson has over 12 years of insurance industry experience – both on the broking and underwriting sides of the market. He joined RK Harrison in 2012 and was previously with JLT from 2007. He has also held positions at Marsh and Hiscox.

Fidelis, pitched as a hybrid between the hedge fund reinsurance model and traditional reinsurance carriers, is in the process of being launched by former Lancashire CEO, Richard Brindle, and president, Neil McConachie. The company is currently in the process of raising up to US$2bn of capital.
