Joe Blenkinsopp has been promoted to chief underwriting officer of XL Catlin’s political risk and trade credit (PRTC) team.

He previously held the position of deputy global head of PRTC, and takes over from Richard Maxwell, who will be leaving the company after four years of service.

In his new role, Blenkinsopp will be responsible for managing a team of political risk and trade credit underwriters globally. He is based in London and reports to Neil Robertson, XL Catlin’s chief executive of global specialty, who comments on the move: “Joe joined XL, now XL Catlin, when we set up the PRTC team in 2011. With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and having previously held senior leadership and management positions in global underwriting and broking firms, Joe is well positioned to lead our PRTC team into the future for the newly-formed XL Catlin.”
