Johanna Wissing has moved from her role as Barclays’ vice-president of trade finance syndications to join the bank’s global transaction banking (GTB) trade business.

In her new role, which she started this week, she looks after trade origination for any non-bank FIs, such as insurance companies, brokers, funds, or fintechs, amongst others. She tells GTR that there will be particular focus on insurance, especially issuing re-insurance LCs (RLOC) and funds at Lloyds LCs (FALLOC).

As part of the GTB trade team, she reports to Divyesh Modi.

“Part of my responsibility will also be to bring my syndications experience to the team to help drive origination with distribution in mind and to ensure our internal engagement with the trade finance syndications department becomes even smoother,” she adds.

Wissing had been at her previous role since March 2014, but part of the trade finance syndications team since May 2012. She started her banking career at Barclays in September 2010.

The trade finance syndications team continues to be headed by Karl Page.
