Global advisory and broking company Willis Towers Watson has named Alberto Gallego as its new head of Iberia.

Gallego will start his new role on January 1 and be based in Madrid. He will lead the businesses in Spain and Portugal, where the company has a network of 22 offices.

Alongside the new role, Gallego will continue in his current position as head of corporate risk and broking for Western Europe, which he started in early 2016.

Gallego joined the advisory in 1990 and has held a series of senior leadership positions. He was the chief operating officer of Iberia from 1990 to 2013 when he became CEO of Western Europe.

Anton Serrats, the current head of Iberia, will take on the role of vice-president of Iberia.
