Derek Syme has taken on Dobson’s previous role as head of GTS in Australia and New Zealand. Syme was previously head of relationship management and sales for the transactional banking division.
Dobson joined Citigroup in New Zealand in 1990 as a foreign exchange dealer in the financial markets group. In 1992 he transferred to Sydney to join the FX options team, before moving to a senior trader role on the FX desk in 1994. Between 1996 and 2001, Dobson held a number of sales roles including, head of corporate foreign exchange sales, head of institutional FX sales and head of e-FX for the group in Australia. Prior to the Singapore appointment he spent several years as GTS head for Australia and New Zealand.
Syme joined Citigroup in 1994 as a relationship manager in New Zealand. In 2001, he assumed dual responsibility as head of the New Zealand corporate bank and head of agribusiness and forestry for Australia and New Zealand. Before joining Citigroup, he worked for Westpac Banking Corporation in New Zealand.
