Standard Bank has appointed three regional heads of distribution. Adrian Walker is promoted to assistant general manager and head of distribution for Europe, Middle East and Africa in London. Andrew LaTrobe is the head of Asian distribution, based in Standard Bank Asia in Singapore. Helena Radzyminski is head of Latin American distribution at Standard Americas in New York, having previously been at BankBoston. Robert Scott is promoted to assistant general manager and takes on the role deputy head, global distribution in addition to his existing duties as head of syndication, resource banking.
The three teams will distribute syndicated loans, forfaiting and trade finance paper originated by Standard Bank Group.
All will report to Peter Kennedy, general manager and head of global distribution and specialised finance.
Outside of Africa, Standard Bank Group now markets to over 70 different countries/emerging markets out of 22 offices. The restructure is a natural consequence of a successful role out of a cross-regional distribution platform, claims the bank.
In addition to arranging structuring and distributing trade
related debt Standard is seeing a significant increase in acquisition finance opportunities in Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia and Latin America. It is therefore positioning itself for increased distribution activity  in these product areas in 2005.
Standard Bank Asia is also seeing more trade-related financing opportunities, particularly in India, whilst Standard Americas is seeing recovery in Latin America – hence the recruitment of Radzyminski from Fleet/Bank Boston, which aims tol build on the success of the bank’s capital markets franchise in Latin America.
