Thandiwe Legwaila has been named Standard Bank’s trade business head for South Africa in Johannesburg.

She replaces Joe Asamoah, who has left the bank to set up Capital Trade Investments, a new venture.

Legwaila joined Standard Bank in 2006 as a guarantees legal and operations manager, and since then has occupied various roles in trade operations and legal, trade and cash product development and management in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent.

She began her career in 2003 at Hofmeyr Herbstein & Gihwala, where she completed her articles, qualified as an attorney and then served as an associate.

In her new role at Standard Bank, Legwaila reports to Crosby Mkhwanazi, head of transactional banking South Africa.
