Sompo Canopius has appointed Stephen Pike and Tim Phillips as credit and political risk underwriters.
Pike joins on October 2 and will report to Bernie de Haldevang, global head of specialty.
He joins from ED&F Man Capital Markets, where he had held the positon of deputy head of speciality commodity finance. During his time there he established its global trade finance business across Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. Before that he was at Cyrus Capital as part of the team managing the European credit fund. He began his career at Merrill Lynch.
Phillips begins his new role at the end of this month. He joins from Deutsche Bank, where he was head of credit for Russia/CIS and Eastern Europe. He will underwrite a broad spectrum of credit and political risks, and also report to de Haldevang.
Sompo Canopius has made a spate of new hires of late, including appointing Bruce Shephard as a credit and political risk analyst, Yvonne McCormack as senior underwriter, and Claire Davenport and Daina Muceniece as underwriters.
