RBS has brought in external banker Anand Pande to fill the newly created role of head of product management in the bank’s global transaction services (GTS) team in Asia.

In the position at RBS, Pande will be responsible for rolling out new products in 2011 to better reflect RBS’s clients’ changing needs in the RBS region, such as for example, closer aligning cash and trade products.

Pande joins the bank with 20 years’ experience in transaction banking, most recently serving as the group chief executive officer at Amba Research, a knowledge process outsourcing firm.

He has also worked for Citi, where he headed the GTS business in China and Asia Pacific.

Furthermore, he was at ANZ’s Grindlays operation where he helped set up the securities business and build the growing cash management business in India.

The newly created head of product management role was created as a reaction to client demand, as Alan Goodyear, head of GTS Asia Pacific at RBS, explains: “We have created this new senior role in response to greater demand for more seamless product solutions and greater risk management.”

RBS is forecasting its Asia GTS business to grow at a rate of 15% to 20% for the next few years, which would outpace GTS growth in the rest of the world, as more international companies are looking to the region for business expansions and to establish treasury centres in Asia to better manage liquidity and risks.
