MUFG Bank has appointed Calvin Nguyen to the newly-created role of director and head of global corporate banking in Vietnam as it continues to grow its business footprint across key markets in Asia.

Based in Hanoi, Nguyen will be responsible for coverage of local and global corporate clients in the country. He will report to Keiji Shiwa, deputy general manager of MUFG Hanoi branch, and also to Sanjiv Vohra, head of global corporate banking and co-head of investment banking for the Asia and Oceania region.

Nguyen joins MUFG from Vietnam International Bank (VIB), where he served as country head for global banking. During his career, he has also held senior positions with other international banks including HSBC, ANZ and SMBC.

Commenting on Nguyen’s appointment, Shiwa says: “We welcome Calvin onboard and look forward to working with him to take MUFG’s global banking business in Vietnam to greater heights. With Calvin’s strong track record, we are confident that he will not just play a substantial role in partnering our global corporate clients as they make the best of Vietnam’s exciting opportunities, but also help MUFG contribute to the country’s long-term growth.”
