US law firm has appointed John McInerney as counsel in its Washington DC international trade practice.

He will focus on international trade matters related to international dispute settlement proceedings, including disputes before the WTO, international trade negotiations and policy, and anti-dumping and countervailing proceedings in the US and other countries around the globe.

McInerney was previously chief counsel for trade enforcement and compliance at the US Department of Commerce between 2000 and 2017. Prior to this, he was deputy chief counsel, senior counsel and a staff attorney in the department for 13 years. He has also worked as an attorney in the Treasury.
