Property and casualty insurer Markel International has launched a new trade credit division.

The division provides non-cancellable cover against payment default risks for a number of trade sectors, including insolvency, default and political risks such as currency inconvertibility and import or export license cancellation.

This comes after Markel hired Ewa Rose specifically to head up the division.

Rose has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry in a number of sectors including paper, steel, advertising and technology.
Before her appointment at Markel she spent almost a decade at Aon and Marsh and moved to develop the global trade credit product line at ACE Group.

She says: “The division is looking to work in partnership with companies that have good internal credit management. The team has an in-depth knowledge of commercial counterparty and country risks across a wide variety of trade sectors. Our policies are structured to provide clients with certainty cover and flexible bespoke solutions.”

Joining Rose’s team as senior underwriters are Adrian Jones, Simon Moon and Carl Titterton.
