Nicholas Davies has been appointed as trade credit underwriter and senior risk analyst for Markel International in Singapore.

He joins the specialist insurer from AIG, where he was a senior underwriter in London. Prior to this, he had spells at Atradius and Atradius Reinsurance in Dublin. He previously worked in banking and asset finance.

Davies reports to Abhishek Chhajer, head of Asia Pacific trade credit, and will be focusing on growing Markel’s portfolio in Asia. He will be responsible for managing existing broker and client relationships.

He is the latest addition to Markel’s regional team, following the appointment of Dillon Matthews as underwriter and senior analyst and Alex Holcroft as political risk underwriter, both last year.

Ewa Rose, managing director for trade credit, political risk and surety, says: “The new appointment reflects Markel’s continuing investment in our product lines on a global basis. Nick’s broad underwriting experience will be a huge asset to our team and we are delighted to have him on board.”

Chhajer adds: “We see significant opportunities for our products and Nick’s knowledge and contacts will help us with the continued development of our business across the Asia Pacific region.“
