Chris Spedding has been appointed managing director, head of North America and Asia for global transaction banking at Lloyds Bank.

Reporting to Adrian Walker, managing director of global transaction banking at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, Spedding will be based in New York and will lead the continued development of the bank’s trade finance and working capital management offering in the North America and Asia regions.

Spedding joined the bank‘s graduate programme in 1999, and has since held a number of positions, both in the UK and international operations, including a role as MD and global head of aerospace and defence in Lloyds Banking Group’s global corporates division. Most recently, he was involved in leading the formulation of the group’s proposed approach to the implementation of the UK’s ring-fencing regulation.

Commenting on his new role, Spedding says: “In an increasingly globalised market we have a great opportunity to build on our core expertise in trade finance and working capital management to support the needs and aspirations of our clients in Asia and North America. With an expanding range of skills and capabilities across our chosen geographies, we are continuing to develop our ability to support clients beyond the borders of our UK market, in addition to fulfilling their trade and transaction banking requirements here in the UK.”
