Tan Siew Meng has been appointed HSBC’s new regional head of global trade and receivables finance (GTRF) Asia Pacific. The position now encompasses Hong Kong and Macau, which were previously handled by a separate division.

The appointment will become effective from July 1, 2015. Based in Hong Kong, Siew Meng will report to Noel Quinn, regional head of commercial banking (CMB) Asia Pacific, and Stuart Tait, global head of GTRF.

“Siew Meng brings to the position a wealth of strong commercial and global banking experience, and in leading businesses in Asia Pacific. She will be responsible for leading our GTRF solutions for commercial banking and global banking customers in the region and ensuring the sustainable growth of this strategically important business to HSBC,” says Quinn.

Siew Meng, currently CEO of Thailand for HSBC, joined the bank’s Singapore branch in 2004 as director of corporate and institutional banking and has since held various positions including head of CMB Singapore and CEO of Mauritius.

A successor for Siew Meng as CEO of Thailand for HSBC is yet to be announced.
