HSBC has appointed Takahisa Yano as director, country head of global trade and receivables finance (GTRF).

Yano moves to the bank from SMBC, where he had been working for over three decades in a variety of roles in London and Tokyo. This includes time spent seconded to Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (Nexi) from SMBC for two years as a director. Earlier in his career, he played an instrumental role in establishing Sumitomo Bank’s trade finance business in the mid-1990s.

In his position at HSBC, he will report functionally to Wei Wei Ng, head of international countries, Asia Pacific, GTRF and locally to Yoshikazu Kato, head of banking in Japan.

Yano replaces Hiroaki Miyajima, the bank’s previous head of GTRF.
