Sriram Muthukrishnan has been appointed HSBC’s managing director and regional head of business development for global trade and receivables finance (GTRF), Asia Pacific.

Muthukrishnan, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins from Standard Chartered Bank where he was the managing director, global head of trade finance, banks segment.

Commenting on his appointment, Muthukrishnan says to GTR: “The Asia Pacific region continues to be an engine for global growth and is home to some of the fastest growing and most dynamic markets in the world. HSBC has an unparalleled franchise here and I look forward to strengthening the bank’s business development and client management activities across the global banking and commercial banking large corporate segments.”

Muthukrishnan has 20 years of experience spanning relationship management, credit risk, transaction banking and trade finance in Asia and the Middle East.

Muthukrishnan will report into Simon Constantinides, HSBC’s regional head of global trade and receivables finance for Asia Pacific, and Bart Ras, HSBC’s global head of business development for global trade and receivables finance.
