HSBC has continued its Southeast Asia growth by promoting Wei Wei Ng to head of trade and supply chain in Malaysia.

Ng moves to the role from her position as regional director for commercial banking in Malaysia’s northern region, where she built up HSBC’s business banking franchise.

She has also held a number of Malaysia-based roles, including senior vice-president of Malaysian and multinational corporates for commercial banking, and head of product management for global payments and cash management.

“Wei Wei will focus on the continued investment in our trade and supply chain franchise in Malaysia through the development of an extensive range of products and services to help our clients take advantage of the extensive business opportunities that the current financial environment provides,” an HSBC spokesperson tells GTR.

The bank’s regional head of trade and supply chain for Asia Pacific, Simon Constantinides, says: “The appointment of a commercially experienced senior executive supports our continued focus and commitment to developing our business in two of Asia’s most dynamic markets. Wei Wei brings to her new role a wealth of corporate banking experience and will be instrumental in executing our growth strategy across Southeast Asia.”

“Malaysia is experiencing exceptional opportunities for cross-border growth,” Constantinides adds.
