HSBC has hired Will Rathvon, previously global head of project and export finance at Standard Chartered in Singapore as chief executive, project and export finance.

In his new role, he will be reporting to Robin Philips and Paul Hand, co-heads of global banking.

He had been at Standard Chartered since 2003, having moved from Bank of America Securities, where he held the position of managing director in the energy investment banking group. In that role he had arranged various financings to clients in the oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors, including M&A services.
