HSBC has appointed Stuart Tait as head of global trade and receivables finance (GTRF).

Tait, currently head of human resources for global banking and markets, global private banking and international management, will lead over 6,000 staff in delivering trade and receivables support to HSBC’s customers across more than 60 countries and territories.

He will take over the role from James Emmett from September 1. Emmett, who was appointed to the role in late 2012, will now become the bank’s Turkey CEO.

Tait reports to Simon Cooper, group managing director and global head, commercial banking. Commenting on the hire, Cooper says, “Stuart’s commercial and multinational banking experience will ensure we continue to deliver business growth for clients, making the most of our unrivalled international presence.”

Tait began his career at HSBC 29 years ago and has held a wide variety of roles in trade finance, commercial banking, retail banking and wealth management, global banking and markets, risk and human resources.
