ABN Amro continues to build its growing commodity derivatives presence with key trading and marketing hires in London and New York and the creation of an operation in Singapore.

The bank has been rapidly adding to its over-the-counter commodity derivatives platform since entering this market in May last year, in order to expand its risk management services for energy clients and to broaden its range of structured products for investor clients.

“The expansion of our trading and marketing teams combined with the creation of a presence in Singapore, provides our clients with a global commodity derivatives platform and offices from Sydney to New York,” says Wayne Harburn, global head of commodity trading at ABN Amro.

Stewart Peter joins from Standard Bank as a senior trader and based in London with responsibility for trading fuel oil. Peter previously ran Standard Bank’s global fuel oil portfolio and has over seven years experience in the European fuel oil market.

Dana Kovaric joins the London-based commodity derivatives marketing team as a junior marketer and will focus on ABN Amro’s European clients. Kovaric also joins from Standard Bank and has over five years experience in the European commodity derivatives market.

Ranjeet Bhatia joins from BNP Paribas as a senior trader to trade crude oil in New York. Bhatia has six years experience in commodity derivatives, both as an analyst and a trader.

Brian Cumming joins from Sempra as senior marketer and will be responsible for establishing ABN Amro’s commodity derivatives business in Singapore. Cumming has 15 years experience in commodity derivatives and was formerly head of Sempra’s Calgary office.

ABN AMRO has also added to its energy futures business, with the recruitment of Eva Karra as a dedicated carbon broker from the bank’s gas and energy group. In February, Gerhard Mulder was also hired as vice-president of sustainable development from the Dutch ministry of economic affairs, where he had responsibility for procuring carbon credits, to develop ABN Amro’s climate-related financial product offering.
