Deutsche Bank has promoted Edward Hui to regional head of structured trade and export finance (STEF) for APAC, effective June 1. He replaces Evert-Jan Zondag, who is leaving the bank after nine years.

Hui and Zondag both joined Deutsche from ABN Amro/RBS in 2010. Most recently, Hui served as head of STEF in Hong Kong.

In his new role, Hui will remain in Hong Kong, and will take on responsibility for overseeing the bank’s STEF business throughout Asia. He will report to Simon Sayer, global head of STEF, in his functional role and regionally to Atul Jain, head of trade for APAC.

Speaking to GTR about his appointment, Hui says: “As we see new opportunities related to the Belt and Road, and outbound trade in particular to Africa, I am confident that we can continue to grow our STEF business in the region.”
