Insurance broker Willis Towers Watson has hired Christophe Meurier as its new global head of financial solutions, effective July 1.

Meurier makes the move from BNP Paribas where he served for 25 years in a number of senior roles including most recently as the head of insurance solutions within corporate and institutional banking as well as CEO of GreenStars, BNP Paribas’ political and credit risk insurance company.

At Willis Towers Watson Meurier will replace Paul Davidson, who will stay on as chairman of financial solutions. He will report to Adam Garrard, global lines of business leader.

Meurier’s responsibilities will include oversight of Willis’ trade finance services, such as Vapor, a political risk insurance programme that launched in December.

Of the appointment, Davidson says: “Christophe brings a tremendous depth of financial institution knowledge and experience as well as extensive insurance expertise in our core discipline to continue the growth of our market leading business.”
