Bibby Financial Services (BFS) has hired Gary Griffiths as managing director for trade finance.

Griffiths, who joined BFS earlier this month, is responsible for managing a team of 25 and will drive the growth of the firm’s UK trade finance business.

He reports to UK commercial director Sharon Wiltshire.

With more than 30 years of experience in financial services, Griffiths has led trade businesses in Europe, the US and Asia.

Prior to joining BFS, Griffiths was senior director for trade and working capital finance at London Business Finance. He has also held roles as head of trade, receivables and supplier finance origination at Lloyds Banking Group, and head of London trade and working capital at Barclays.

A spokesperson for BFS tells GTR that Griffiths will be working closely with Jim Davis, who joined BFS in 2018 as managing director for export finance.

Griffiths says: “There are an increasing number of SMEs trading in overseas markets who require help and support to manage the cash flow and risk implications of international trade.”

BFS is an invoice financing specialist for SMEs based in the UK.
